Information and changes to school bus services
Southern Vectis Route 68 - Will divert at Blackwater Junction at which point the service operate along the A3056 and rejoin the usual route at Merstone Cross.
Students living in Merstone will need to disembark the service at Merstone Cross or Catch the Wightbus service 105 and disembark at Bohemia Corner.
Wightbus Route 52 - Due to the closure of the Gunville Road, Gunville, from the afternoon of Monday 15 March 2010, the service 52 service will operate a revised route. The service will divert at the St Mary’s Roundabout, Newport from where the service will divert via Newport to Wellington road where it will rejoin the usual route.
Students who usually access this service from Forest Road, Newport are required to meet the service at St Mary’s Hospital, Bus Stop.
Wightbus Service 108 - Due to the closure of Green Lane & Cemetery Road, Shanklin, the Wightbus service 108 will not serve stops along Green Lane and Cemetery Road. The service will divert from its usual route and operate along Whitecross Lane, Sandy Lane, Landguard Road to Shanklin Somerfield in the morning and the reverse journey in the afternoon. Students, who usually board this service along Green Lane/Cemetery Road, will need to catch and alight the service 108 at any stop along Whitecross Lane, Sandy Lane, Landguard Road or Somerfield, Shanklin.
Changes from January 2010 - Please see below the changes to the Southern Vectis school bus service provision to the Carisbrooke Schools, these changes will come into effect from the first day of the Spring Term. The School Transport information on Eduwight and iwight.com will also be updated to reflect these changes from 18 December 2009.
Southern Vectis School service revisions - Commencing 4th January 2010
Students travelling in from St Helens, Bembridge, Brading and Oakfield are to catch the service 64 as the service 10 has been withdrawn, see below for timetable details AM: 07:37 St Helens (Station Road), 07:45 Bembridge (Crossway), 07:55 Brading (Bull Ring), 08:02 Oakfield, 08:12 Binstead (Ringwood Road), 08:17 Wootton (Bridge), 08:30 Downside Middle School, 08:50 Carisbrooke Schools. PM: 15:55 Carisbrooke Schools, 16:09 Staplers (Long Lane), 16:16 Wootton (Cedars), 16:24 Binstead (Ringwood Road), 16:34 Oakfield, 16:43 Brading (Bull Ring), 16:53 Bembridge (Crossway), 17:00 St Helens (Station Road).
Students travelling in from Binstead and Wootton need to board the Service 64 if the service 65 is full. The two coaches will be serving these stops at the same time.
The Service 11 from the West Wight to the schools has been withdrawn; Southern Vectis will cover this route by operating an additional Service 94 coach.
Students travelling to and from Newport Bus Station are to use the Service 38 which is the public service from Mountbatten drive or Hinton Road as the Service 11 has been withdrawn. Timetable details AM: 08:30 Newport Bus Station, 08:34 Hinton Road, 08:39 Gunville, Taylor Road. PM: 16:04 Hinton Road, 16:10 Gunville, Taylor Road, 16:12 Carisbrooke, High Street, 16:14 Whitepit Lane/Castle Hill, 16:23 Newport Bus Station.
